Fran Dunn

A strategic partner for Spectrum Education Services, Fran is a South Carolina native, residing in Spartanburg, and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of South Carolina’s College of Journalism.

Her “first” career in the private sector spanned over 25 years, primarily in media sales, management and publishing.

Fran’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to launch, grow and subsequently sell a successful real estate franchise, allowing her to more fully invest her expertise in volunteer causes that mattered to her and to her community.

The mission of The First Tee addressed two of her passions – youth development and golf, which led to Fran’s “second” career as Executive Director of The First Tee’s local chapter. During her six-year tenure, the chapter achieved over 200% increases in fundraising revenue and participant enrollment. Fran brokered partnerships between schools and community to address character and wellness deficits for area youth. Over $175,000 was raised from 35 stakeholders to support The First Tee National School Program in 54 schools in Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties, reaching over 26,000 students annually.

Fran credits Spartanburg County School District 7 for “teeing” up the collaborative opportunity. Superintendent Russell E. Booker says, “Fran has displayed values-based leadership, civic responsibility, and has been a champion for children. She is a woman of great integrity which is reflected in the reputation she has cultivated for The First Tee in our community.”

Fran believes the lifetime sport of golf and its inherent core values are a wonderful way to teach vital life skills like judgment, respect and responsibility that improve the outcomes of students for healthy, successful lives with collateral benefit for community.

Fran has held leadership positions in numerous women’s golf associations, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Women’s SC Golf Association Junior Foundation and the Country Club of Spartanburg, her home course.

Fran is married to Dan Dunn, a commercial real estate broker with NAI Earle Furman. Their daughter (Brie), son-in-law (Trae Judy), and granddaughter (Ellison) live in Columbia SC.
